Monday we kicked off a new initiative to focus on developing happier, healthier and as a result more productive students/staff and community here at Lincoln Heights. The Hero Generation is a 21st Century approach to developing character and community within our school and beyond. The attributes focused on are as follows:
H – HOPE
E – EFFICACY
R – RESILIANCE
O – OPTIMISM
G – GRATITUDE
E – EMPATHY
M – MINDFULNESS
Last year 2 schools piloted this project and the results have been overwhelmingly positive. We were one of 10 schools chosen to be a part of the next phase of implementation.
What is the Hero Generation??
Happier, Higher-Performing Students, Staff, and Communities
The purpose of the project is to improve elementary school students’ and staff well-being and demonstrate that higher social-emotional skills contribute to improved personal and academic well-being. We believe that this improved overall experience will spill over into students’ homes and beyond. (taken from the Staff Guidebook – Plasticity Labs)
This past week your child brought home (or should have brought home) a booklet provided by Plasticity Labs which outlines the project and also requests your permission for your child to participate in the research part of this. Please make sure you read through the material and return the permission form – if you have any questions whatsoever please call the school. We would be happy to talk to you more about this.
