Over the past two weeks, our dedicated Trailblazer Team has been hard at work preparing a series of activities to celebrate Winter Walk Week at Lincoln Heights. While the official Winter Walk Day is February 4, our Trailblazers were eager to take things further—expanding the celebration to a full week of winter walking from February 2 to February 6.

Yesterday, classes joined a school-wide Google Meet presentation. Trailblazers shared the benefits of winter walking and outlined the exciting plans for the week ahead.

Next week, look for our Trailblazers in their bright yellow vests carrying yellow winter walk signs.  Throughout Winter Walk Week, students are invited to join Trailblazer‑led walks in both the primary and junior/intermediate yards:

  • Before school at 8:25 AM
  • During recess breaks

Students are also welcome to record walks to and from school and walks completed at home. While we encourage walks of 5 minutes or more, all efforts toward winter walking will be celebrated. Walks will be recorded using the honour system, and students may record up to three walks per day with their classroom teacher.

  • 1 walk = 1 point (maximum 3 points per day)

On the official Winter Walk Day—Wednesday, February 4—students can earn bonus points:

  • 1 walk = 2 points (maximum 6 points for the day)

The class with the highest number of points per participant will win a sledding and hot chocolate celebration.

On Wednesday, February 4, parents and guardians can register their student’s winter walk using the QR code posted at all our student school entrances (look for the Winter Walk signs). Completing the registration enters students into a draw for a $25 Indigo gift card. The QR code will also be shared through School Day and the school website on February 4.

Our Trailblazers are energized and excited to kick off Winter Walk Week.

Step into the season with us and make Winter Walk Week a celebration of movement and community,— bundle up, bring your energy, and let’s fill Lincoln Heights with footsteps that warm the whole school!
