Hello Lincoln Heights school community,

We hope your summer is going well.  There are a few mid-summer updates we would like to share.   Firstly, see below for some links to important general information:

Next year – Class Placements:

School-Day will resume for parents and caregivers of elementary students on Monday September 7.  Parents and caregivers can login and view their student’s information anytime on Monday September 7 if they have an account linked to their student.

You can find more information about Elementary Class Assignments here.  Kindergarten teachers will reach out to families of children in their class by email or phone in advance of school starting.

As we look to the new year, we want to share how thoughtfully and carefully our staff approach the creation of class lists.  We consider each students’ academic needs, and social dynamics and always strive to have students placed with a familiar peer.  These are the guiding principles in forming our combined grade classes as well.   Now that class lists are finalized, changes will not be made unless directed by the Board due to unexpected enrollment shifts.  Moving even one student can create a domino effect, impacting friendships, classroom balance, and other placements.   We recognize that change can be difficult but children are incredibly resilient and adapt quickly.  Your support and encouragement help set a positive tone for your child’s transition and success.  Please know that  our staff are here to help every step of the way.  Thank you for your understanding and continued support.   We know that all of our teachers and staff at Lincoln are ready, willing and able to meet the needs of all of our learners.

Gaga Ball Pit and Playground:

Thanks to a private donation, the new Gaga ball pit has been installed!  We will be sharing the playground rules and routines with our students in the first week of school.   This may include not having the Gaga ball pit open right away (during recess) until the students learn to play in our gym classes under the guidance of a teacher first.

The new primary playground is still scheduled to be installed this summer.

Parking lot:

Parents will continue to have access to the parking lot (Quickfall and Mayfield) for the time being.    The parking lots on our property and the roundabout are closed to parents and caregivers for student safety during drop off and pick up.

You will hear more from the school in the first week of September!  Before school starts, our team will be sharing first day routine and maps, plus our updated family handbook (the rules and routines of Lincoln Heights PS).

Meet the staff:

Our Meet the staff evening is scheduled for September 16th, from 6pm to 7pm.  Mark your calendars!

Warm regards,
Scott Dowling, Principal
