December 5th, 2014
We are excited to announce that our Youth in Action group will be running a campaign called “We are Rafikis”. In Swahili, the word “Rafiki” means friend. We will be helping our friends in Kenya support their families. Beading is part of the Maasai culture and every Rafiki friend chain that a Mama makes helps her earn a living, send her children to school and show the world her skills and traditions.
We are selling Rafiki friend chains in our community to support Mamas as they create lasting change in their communities. Rafiki Chains are $10 and will be sold the week of December 8th to the 12th. We will also be selling Rafiki chains the evening of the holiday concert (Dec.10 at 7:00)
Half the proceeds goes to We Day, an organization that strives to empower our youth and inspire them to create a change. The other half of the proceeds goes toward the Mamas in Kenya.
Thank you for supporting our campaign.
